Our Mission
The Church is entrusted with God's Mission as she being the body of Christ. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church , which is Apostolic in origin, Catholic in nature, Biblical in faith, Evangelical in principle, Ecumenical in outlook, Oriental in worship, Democratic in function, Episcopal in character and a Reformed Church, bear this mission into the world.

The goal and function adopted by the church is:
  • To be the repository of the divine doctrines revealed by Jesus Christ and proclaimed by His Apostle
  • To maintain these doctrines in their purity
  • To promote the spiritual life of its members through the administration of sacraments and by the ministry of the WORD
  • To make disciples of all nations by the proclamation of the Gospel to all the world, and through the administration of Holy Baptism in the name of Triune God As part of this commitment of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church, the Adoor diocese also actively participates in the proclamation and witness of the Gospel through various mission fields.
Our Mission Fields

1. Ghatkesar (Andhra Pradesh)

This mission field was started in Andhra Pradesh as the 80th Birthday project of Most. Rev. Dr. Alexander Marthoma Valia Metropolitan. 50 members regularly attend the worship and fellowships. The college students nearby the mission field attend the church. A tailoring training centre also is started in this financial year and is inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr.Joseph Marthoma metropolitan on his grace's visit to the centre. VBS is organized every year. Evg. Mr. Johnson and his family are working in this field.

2. Satyavadi (Tamilnadu)

Satyavadi mission was started as the 80th birthday of project of Most. Rev. Dr. Alexander Marthoma at Tamilnadu. This mission field includes two areas such as satyavadi and theevallur. Apart from the Worship, Sunday school and house visits, the mission organizes V.B.S, Medical camps, Christmas celebration, National Celebrations, Educational aid programmes, Medical Aid projects, Nursery School etc. Marthoma evangelistic association workers also participate in the mission works of this project. 35 children attended the camp at Naiveli this year. 22 students are studying in the nursery school

3. Chenkottai (Tamilnadu)

This mission field is in Punalur centre, situated near the Kerala border. The mission field was started in 1950. 12 families are actively participating in the church worship. Ordinary Worship is conducted every Sunday and Holy Communion on first sunday. Sunday school, House Visit and prayer meetings, poor and needy care projects etc are the main activities of the centre. We have a hostel for girls in which 10 students are accommodated. An English medium nursery school also is running. A new chapel is built and consecrated this year.

4. Amba Samudram (Tamilnadu)

Ambasamudram mission field is in Tamilnadu . This mission concentrates its activities in Vakaikulam, Brahmadesam, gouthamapuri, kovilkulam, mudappalam, velayudhanagar, teachers colony, subramanyapuran, urkadu abd ambasamudram areas. House visits, visiting the sick in Taluk Hospital, family fellowships etc are done as part of the activies.

5. Poothankara

This mission is started by the diocesan voluntary evangelistic association. Worship, fasting prayers etc are conducted every week.

6. Punnala

The land for the mission centre was given by Rev. M.J John. Worship, fasting prayers etc are conducted every week. The evangelist is assigned in kuryottumala, chembanaruvi-kadasseri areas also

7. Rosemala

This mission field is run by Punalur centre voluntary evangelistic association. Worship is conducted every Sunday and Holy Communion on once in a month. A new chapel was built by the voluntary evangelistic association of the Punalur centre.

8. Achenkovil
This mission field is situated 40 kms away from Punalur town. This is a backward area and the mission work is done with the monitoring of the Marthoma Voluntary evangelistic association and the diocese.

9. Kunnathur Mission

This mission project is started by Kannamcode Voluntary Evangelistic Association. The work mostly concentrates nearby areas of Kunnathur Salem Marthoma Church.

10. Nagamala - Kuravanthavalam

This field is in Punalur centre and the work is mostly concentrated on the plantation workers of Harison Malayalam. Prayer meetings are conducted regularly in which so many are participating.

11. Tharayilkadavu

This coastal area is in Kayamkulam Centre. Ms. Keelleve and the workers visited this area in the Malayalam year 1111 and informed the possibilities of a mission work there to Abraham Marthoma. Evg. Kanam Varkey was the first evangelist in this area.

12. Puthuppally

The mission work in this area was started seven decades before. The land was bought by the advice of Titus II thirumeni. The work in this area was organized by Suvisesha Sevika Sangham for a long period and the work is now undertaken by the Diocese. The local people in this area were benefited by the work here and have good reputation for this work among them.
