Anugraha De-addiction & Councelling Centre

Anugraha De-addiction Centre is a prominent initiative operating under the Adoor Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. It follows a divine and effective treatment approach that brings new hope to countless families trapped in the grip of addiction, helping them return to normal life. By combining Medical, psychological ( psycho education, therapies, individual counselling, family counselling ) and spiritual approaches, a remarkable and comprehensive treatment system is implemented here. In line with the goal of building an alcohol- and drug-free society, the project originally known as “Theertham” under the diocese continued as “Anugraha,” which began on July 1, 2016, with a 10-day camp for 10 families. Many families from different castes and religions took part in these camps and found healing, leading healthier lives. From 2019 onwards, the treatment shifted from 10-day camps to the current 30 day comprehensive program, which integrates medical, psychological, and spiritual care, helping many families find recovery through the centre’s dedicated efforts. In the month of April, during Vacation Bible School (VBS) time, anti-addiction awareness classes, puppet shows and magic shows were conducted in around 35 parish. Currently, the centre is also conducting anti-addiction awareness classes, puppet shows, magic shows and street plays focused on schools and society. To help those seeking treatment maintain a stable and healthy daily life, AA meetings, family gatherings, and follow up programs are held regularly. To make the public including children aware of the dangers of addiction and its negative impact on society, de-addiction awareness classes are organized in schools and colleges. Along with this, with the full co-operation of various churches and organizations, street plays and anti-drug awareness meetings are conducted in multiple locations. To ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the institution, a 12-member Local Advisory Body has been constituted, playing a vital role in guiding and supporting its various activities.

This body is chaired by Rt. Rev. Mathews Mar Seraphim Episcopa, who serves as the President, providing visionary leadership. Rev. Aji Cherian , serving as the Director and Rev. Vipin Sam Thomas as the Treasurer.
